lumbung member Jatiwangi art Factory invites to join their rehearsals for Rampak Genteng, a ritual of ringing the roof tile instruments together as a collective statement. They are looking for 100 participants for the rehearsels which start on Monday, May 23, 2022 until June 19, 2022.
Rampak Genteng usually happens as a triannual in Jatiwangi since 2012. In the beginning there were 1,000 participants and the one in 2018 was attended by 11,000 musicians. As part of documenta fifteen Rampak Genteng will be the culmination of the New Rural Agenda Summit that takes place on the Friedrichsplatz on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 4.30 pm.
Towards the Rampak Genteng participants rehearse together every week in order to make a composition together. Jatiwangi art Factory provides the roof tiles, sticks, and a portable sound system. The rehearsal happens in groups of 20 participants once a week for two hours, starting at 6 pm at different locations in Kassel in Nordstadt, Mitte, and Bettenhausen. The musicians choose in which place they want to rehearse.
