The three-day workshop series Waste-lands by lumbung artist LE 18 centers on agroecological principles and recycled material design practices to reclaim the place of what is too often categorized as waste and left-overs as a means to nourish ourselves and build collective gathering spaces. The workshop offers to explore Kassel’s surroundings gathering objects, wild edible plants, and food “waste.” This forage will be the main ingredient for a short series of DIY functional design workshops developed in partnership with lumbung artist El Warcha, and to set up a menu for a final banquet that will take place on Sunday, August 14 as a concluding, collective gathering.
