As a partner of documenta fifteen, the Goethe-Institut supports the development of the lumbung network.
This includes support for the online discussion series lumbung calling and lumbung konteks as well as decentralised lumbung pre-events in the run-up to the documenta. These pre-events take place as a cooperation between the local Goethe-Institut and the lumbung members in their respective countries. Our commitment to the lumbung idea is also expressed in the support for the book publication lumbung majalah and for the website lumbung.space which serves as a place for lumbung members and participating artists to exchange ideas.
The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. It promotes knowledge of the German language abroad and fosters international cultural cooperation. It conveys a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information about cultural, social and political life. Its cultural and educational programmes encourage intercultural dialogue and enable cultural involvement. They strengthen the development of structures in civil society and foster worldwide mobility.
With the network of Goethe-Institutes, Goethe Centres, cultural societies, reading rooms and exam and language learning centres, it has been the first point of contact for many with Germany for almost seventy years. The long-lasting partnerships with leading institutions and individuals in over ninety countries create enduring trust in Germany. The Goethe-Institut is a partner for all who actively engage with Germany and its culture, working independently and without political ties.
