Opening Party @ Hübner areal

For the opening of documenta fifteen, we invite you to various parties, taking place simultaneously across the city. The concert at Hübner areal, opens with a performance by the kora player Adama Keïta – hosted in collaboration with lumbung member Fondation Festival sur le Niger, followed by a DJ set by Stefan Küchenmeister.

Born in Bamako, Mali, Adama Keïta began playing the kora at age four, continuing a family tradition in the 72nd generation. At 29 years of age, he belongs to a young generation of Bamako musicians attracted by modern music while remaining attached to traditional styles. 

Stefan Küchenmeister discovered his passion for techno at the age of 19. Inspired by legends like Jeff Mills and DJ Rush, he bought his first turntables in 1993 and taught himself how to mix at home. Before long, he played in the clubs Aufschwung Ost and Stammheim in his hometown Kassel, and in various Berlin clubs, including Tresor, Suicide and Electric Ballroom. He made his breakthrough as a producer in 2000 with the Garbage Elements EP and his hit Soda Stream on the Kassel label Hörspielmusik.
