For the opening of documenta fifteen, we invite you to various parties, taking place simultaneously across the city. The outdoor party at Hafenstraße 76 includes music by the rap group Majeshi, Dangerdope, and DJ Chili-T.
DJ Chili-T from Kassel became famous as a resident in the popular German radio show HR 3 Clubnight. Having toured festivals and discotheques in Germany for four decades alongside colleagues such as Sven Väth, Thorsten Fenslau (Culture Beat), and Mark Spoon, he knows how to inspire the masses with his mixture of all areas of black music. His most important residencies include the Kassel clubs World/Da Jam, Soda and York, Natrix in Darmstadt and Megadrom in Schweinfurt. He has supported Mobb Deep, Montell Jordan and Lil Kim on tours in the USA, France, Spain, and the Netherlands.
Dangerdope is a project by DJ Rencong, a native of the Aceh province on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. He blends hip hop, instrumental music, soul, funk, jazz, and drum ‘n’ bass, layering them with sound bites from movies, talk shows, conversations, old vinyls, and video footage into rich sound collages. He has collaborated with numerous Indonesian rappers, including Joe Millions, Buzzdome, Ghost, and Jare Fundamental. For the collaborative film project Amuk he mixed sounds and song samples with words by the Indonesian poet Sutardji Chalzoum Bachri. For his performance in documenta fifteen, Dangerdope will be accompanied by his longtime partner, MC Eloops.
Majeshi Mosteducated was founded by Charles Githinji and Paul Irungu in the year 2012. They are based in the Lunga-Lunga neighborhood of the Mukuru slum in Nairobi. The group focuses on addressing vices in the community through artistic work, including music education to young people, education on substance use, and various forms of organizing amongst the youth from all sides of the slums to participate in cultural activities during cultural day, which is held during the long holidays of December.
