Event
HyperVigilant feat. MORENXXX by Party Office b2b Fadescha
lumbung artists Party Office hosts the Pro-BDSM rave HyperVigilant, centering on the celebration of trans* and BIPoC people. This August event is co-hosted as an extension to the exhibition AUTOPOIESIS: Recognizing Kin Across Antipodal Topologies by Allies for the Uncertain Futures (Shaunak Mahbubani).
For the divergent, there is always the additional work of managing effects of systemic violence and trauma, accounted for and held within the bodies of those most impacted. This fact doesn’t dissolve at the door. Our party insists on acknowledging and minimizing the exhaustion that comes with negotiating dancefloor euphoria against aggressions by ableist cisheteronormativity.
What would it look like if the HyperVigilant themselves could occupy and dictate space for respite and care, in an otherwise ceaseless roulette of having to articulate defenses against hegemonic disturbances that disable us, whether inside or outside the party space? What would collective practice grow into if we began with learning how to do nothing in safe company?
MORENXXX, also known as Jesús Hilario-Reyes, is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist, DJ, and producer. MORENXXX consistently challenges the limits of sound through intense rhythm and heavily percussive performances. The dancefloor is seen as a central element of their practice, as they declare it a “devotional, spiritual site of becoming and unbecoming”. MORENXXX’s hypnotic sound ranges from ethereal intensity to dynamic rhythms, incorporating trance, techno and playful vocal twirls.
REDRUM is the DJ moniker of artist-curator Vidisha-Fadescha, who practices transnationally taking refuge in communities exclusive to trans* and BIPoC people. As REDRUM they present experimental ambient, techno, and contemporary trance, creating a soundscape towards multitudinous movements.
