The “new man” was a utopian notion shared by all authoritarian and totalitarian regimes in the 20th century. This concept worked as tool to develop technologies of social and political control. In the lecture Cuba as a lab. The new man and the Revolution, Abel Sierra Madero will address how the “new man” shaped the revolutionary politics during the sixties and the seventies in Cuba, and how the Island became a biopolitical laboratory within the transnational socialist project.
