November 26, 2021 saw Michael Gerst, Head of HessenForst, Dr. Markus Ziegeler, Head of Forstamt Reinhardshagen, Reza Afisina and Iswanto Hartono from ruangrupa and Dr. Sabine Schormann, General Director of documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH, plant an avenue of oaks in Reinhardswald, a local forest.

These trees symbolize the 22 hectares of forest that Forstamt Reinhardshagen is reforesting with the support of documenta fifteen, and they herald the start of joint measures aimed at creating a climate-stable forest of the future. With one Euro from each ticket sold going towards sustainability, documenta fifteen is supporting, among other things, the reforestation of open spaces in the Reinhardswald forest caused by bark beetles, storms and drought. The reforestation will continue in 2022 with further planting campaigns involving the public.
