For the international day of the forests as well as a continuation of the documenta fifteen sustainability project in cooperation with HessenForst, a public tree planting takes place in Reinhardswald, Hesse, Germany, on March 21, 2022.
There are two groups of 30 participants each, starting at 10 am and 12 pm (CET) with the tree planting, following the Covid-19 spacing regulations. Please bring your own gloves and if available, a spade, as there are a limited number on site. Please note that unfortunately there are no sanitary facilities available.
The Hofgeismarer Werkstätten of the bdks (Baunataler Diakonie Kassel e.V.) support the planting and their clients can guide the planting volunteers if needed
There will be a back to back DJ set by Reza Afisina and Indra Ameng (ruangrupa), coffee and vegan brownies.
With one Euro from each ticket sold going towards sustainability, documenta fifteen is supporting, among other things, the reforestation of open spaces in the Reinhardswald forest caused by bark beetles, storms and drought.
It is one of several long-term sustainability projects designed to combine ecological, economic, artistic and social factors in line with the concept of documenta fifteen. Other projects co-financed by the Sustainability Euro are the Sustainable Village Project and the Semah Bumi Festival, a collaboration between the University of Göttingen’s EFForTS research unit and the University of Jambi Indonesia on the ecological enrichment of palm oil and rubber plantations in Sumatra.
