Feeding Spirits by lumbung-artist Saodat Ismailova is a cooking performance accompanied by poetry. The performance is inspired by the ancient ritual of roasting fried yeast bread (tokoch, mai tokoch, or shelpek). Benazir Ibraimova wants to honor the memory of arbaks, saint spirits or revered ancestors. She also wants to reflect on a process of self-identification through remembering the roots in a collective process that forms unity and meditativeness.
