As a continuation of the opening parties, documenta fifteen presents live performances by LAIR, Uwalmassa and Gabber Modus Operandi. 

LAIR is a music project from Jatiwangi, West Java, founded in 2018. LAIR’s music is inspired by classical tarling, which is explored in the typical Pantura style, raw and as it is. Their songs are born from daily observations from where their members live – the chaotic roads on Java’s North coast route, anger about local politics, but also working class optimism. The tile and clay instruments they playd are entirely made from Jatiwangi’s soil. LAIR, who call their music ‘Pantura-soul’, have released their album Kiser Kenamaan. 

DIVISI62, a sound and visual arts label from Jakarta, Indonesia, performs and produces music under the name Uwalmassa. Their output mutates and transcend the sensory qualities of the Nusantara region’s sonic heritage into speculative and enigmatic forms. 

Gabber Modus Operandi (GMO) is an experimental gabber music project founded by Ican Harem and his partner Aditya Surya Taruna a.k.a DJ Kasymin. The duo fuses Euro-toned gabber sounds with grind-core, noise, funkot, and traditional Balinese gamelan samples.
