Nazira Karimi: Performance by Saodat Ismailova

Maïdabofi is a performance about womanhood. The word Maïdabofi refers to the process of braiding a woman’s hair into 40 braids. lumbung artist Saodat Ismailova has invited the performers Aida Adilbek, Dilda Ramazan, Benazir Ibraimova, Sibel Rokia Ismailova Martínez, and Nazira Karimi to open up a curtain into faded memory, reflect on ways of living, and reclaim an identity thought to be extinct. Through repetitive patterns, the choreography of the piece reflects on the ever-same interplay within the female mahalla, a community, where everyone is sharing and caring.
