There is a crack, but we belong together! Solidarity to the struggle of the indigenous people!
There is a crack, but we belong together! Solidarity to the struggle of the indigenous people! is an event by Huni Kuin and Feinmechanik Kassel.
“We, including our art, need clean water and food, we need the forests and a connection to nature!” The rainforests are burning: Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro is clearing the forest for exploitation and tolerating illegal deforestation for the benefit of commercial agriculture. Habitat for animals, plants and indigenous peoples are in danger. Also affected are the Huni Kuin.
We, the Huni Kuin, are an original nation-people, guardians of our territories, of nature and of all that is sacred. The Floresta (the Brazilian Amazon forest) in which we are born, grow and live, is a natural heart for the whole world. Everything is alive there: the earth, the water, the plants, the animals, the spiritus. Nature is all of them and so is the human being.
Bimi piti heshe bana inawa is a project of the Huni Kuin peoples that aims to create food security in the villages. Through the planting of vegetables and fruits as well as animal care.
Part of the event is a presentation and healing music with Txana Txatxabari. From the original peoples of the forest, Txatxabari is touring Europe as part of a mission of his village to build alliances for the defence and care of the Amazon.
