lumbung artist Another Roadmap Africa Cluster presents Penser et Vivre dans un monde pluriel, a performative colloquium with the philosopher Isaïe Nzeyimana. The colloquium marks the launch of a multiyear collaborative research project towards new spaces of transmission of African thought and symbolic practices. It also reviews recent French-to-English translations as a way to explore pedagogical models and cultural methods that lessen the divide between English speaking and French speaking African worlds. Finally, the colloquium gives a tour of past and future spaces of learning, exemplified by Nzeyimana’s activities. These include the now-closed Nile Source Polytechnic of Applied Arts—a BA-level institution with programs in translation, graphic design, architecture, and environmental studies in Huye, a semi-rural city in Rwanda—and École Doctorale, a mobile school that offers doctoral programs borne out of cooperations between industries and universities, whose candidates are placed in universities located in various regions in Africa and beyond.
