Karibu Kassel e.V.: Some water, clay, and sand – an unplugged fridge that transforms lives

For more than three million families in Peru without electricity and refrigerator, Cool-K, an unplugged low-tech refrigerator made of clay, sand, and water, offers a simple and ubiquitous way to keep vegetables and fruits fresh. Claudia Siesquén Deza, who developed this “refrigerator” with her brother Jorge, presents this device that combines sustainability and poverty alleviation.
